Google local results are very cool

Want to see all the closest pizza joints to your house? Just type “<your postal/zip code> pizza” into Google and see what happens. Not happy with the three choices on the map? Click “local results for pizza near <your postal/zip code>” and you’ll get a huge, mapped, list of almost every pizza place for miles. Very cool.

I should mention that it works for pretty much anything – not just pizza!

Apple “Get a Mac” ads: UK Style

Get a Mac Ads (UK & Ireland)

If you’re annoyed by the North American “I’m a PC” and “I’m a Mac” ads then there may still be hope for you. I just watched ads for the UK and Ireland versions of the campaign and they are pretty funny. In face I’d say they are probably funnier than the ones on this side of the pond.

My favorite is “pie chart”. I’m hoping my next family vacation contains amounts of “shenanigans”, “tom-foolery”, “hijinx”, “capers”, “monkey business”, and “just larking about”.

Got an Intel Mac? Want to use that 802.11n chip? $2 Please.

Every Mac with Intel’s Core 2 Duo or Xeon processor has the 802.11n chip, except for the 17-inch iMac with the 1.83GHz Core 2 Duo chip. If you want to activate it, you’re going to have to pay $1.99 to download the software from Apple.

So let me get this straight: We paid for the 802.11n chip. It is on the motherboard. But now we have to pay Apple for the right to use it? Did I miss something? Come on Apple, even Microsoft would just include 802.11n support for free in the next security update or service pack.
